Imagine someone who has been expelled from his country. He arrives at a place where he has no friends, no relatives; and the customs and tongue of the land are unfamiliar him. Naturally, he feels lonely, terribly lonely. Suddenly he sees another stranger who, like him, has no one to turn to-- no place to go. The two strangers meet and become acquainted. They talk, and for awhile walk the streets together. With some good measure, they may even become good friends. This is true of G-d and man; they are two strangers who try to become friends.
